Proverbs 24:11-12

11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

Intro: A simple way of explaining this Passage would be to say: We need to make a way of Bringing those who are being taken away to death and Hell, The Lost, they are staggering to the slaughter to come, and Oh Lord, use us to hold them back, use us to Bring them to You Oh Lord.

Now, Today, We’re gonna start a New Series and a New Campaign! The Campaign is Church Growth and The Name of The Series is EO-BO! Now what does EO-BO mean? Everyone Brings One!

According to anthropologist Robin Dunbar, an anthropologist is someone who scientifically and statistically study humans and their customs, beliefs, and relationships. This group also includes sociologists, social psychologists. They study everything from the traditions of a tribe on a remote island to the culture of an urban community and everything in between. They study physical and cultural development, biological characteristics, social customs and beliefs of humankind. They study how we live, how we react, how we shop, why we do things a certain way and our Human Relationships, who we hang with and who are Friends are…

And according to this Bunch, they say, and I believe this is reasonable, I mean hey, I was in The NYPD for 20 Years, I’ve been in The Ministry for 15 Years, I’ve been Married for 33 Years, I’ve Studied The Human Condition, but The Experts say:

That Human Brains have a limit on how many meaningful relationships they can keep track of. Dunbar says most people can have up to:

· 5 intimate bonds: spouses, best friends, family member and so on.

· 15 close friends: people you trust and spend time with regularly, OK...

· 50 friends: people you would invite to a personal event like a Wedding or Event Dinner, and

· 150 casual friends: people you would invite to a really big party!

A recent survey seems to support Dunbar’s theory. Researchers found the average Facebook user:

Has 155 friends on the platform Only considers 43 contacts to be genuine friends Would only trust 4 of their Facebook friends in a life crisis!

Interesting Studies here, we can probably relate to some of this…

But, I’m not gonna focus on the 155 FB Friends, or the 15 Casual Friends or even your 5 most intimate friends…

Some of us have less than 155 Acquaintances and some of us have more, a lot more… I’ve seen people with like a 1000 FB Friends and I’ve been to Weddings and Funerals with 300, 400, 500 people…

That’s not the point,

I’d like to focus on EO-BO! Everyone Brings One, that’s the Church Growth Campaign and I’d like talk about “The One!” Who is Your “The One?”

The One is, can be anyone of 5-155 Friends and BEYOND that You have a Relationship with. “The One” could be: Your Spouse, Your Child or Your Family Member…

The One can be Your Co-Worker, Your Neighbor, Someone that Works for You, Someone You Work for. It can be from The Neighborhood Auto Mechanic, Your Nurse or Medical Doctor, Your Dentist-Now we know that most Dentists are going straight to Hell, so we gotta be double thinking of them.

The One can be: A Waitress or Waiter from your favorite Restaurant. Stop right here, here’s a Pro Tip: kinda related. We’re got, I think 10,000 of The Jesus Videos… Every time You go to a Restaurant, leave a Jesus DVD Video with Your Tip!

“The One” can be your Mail Carrier, Your Garbage Man, Your Barber, Your Hair Stylist, Your Sushi Guy, Your Teacher, Or Someone You Teach!

The One might be someone that God has placed on Your Heart or it could be someone that You’ve asked God to act upon in Your life

Please, If You have any more suggestions on who to be on “The One!” List, Please let Me know after the Service!

Why, “The One?” The Campaign is about Church Growth, Multiplying Disciplines, Growing The Church. Why? Jesus said so, not Me, but Jesus said so! He said in:

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We’ve got The Biblical Commandment, but before we kidnap, abduct, hijack or coerce, or Bribe “The One!” and Bring them to Church, we need to deal with a few things, Number 1:

1A.Most Church Outreach Programs Fail.

Isn’t that sad… But Why? Here’s some reasons:

1. Christians have no sense of urgency to reach lost people.

Even though Jesus said in:

Jesus also said in: Revelation 22:7

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

It’s shouldn’t be Ho Hum, not another Message about Inviting someone to Church, We must be busy about The Lord’s Work! James 1:22 says…

The Lord Jesus can return at any second, I know we’re going up with Jesus, but is “The One!” “You’re the One” going up to Glory as well?

Another Reason Most Church Outreach Programs Fail is because:

2. Many Christians and Church Members Fail to make friends and spend time with lost persons.

Now, I know The Bible says we’re not to love the world and we’re not to be partnered with the world, but we’re allowed to be Friendly towards everyone, we’re allowed to deal with the World, and The Bible says we can reach out to the world.

What have we just studied the last 5 weeks?

Lost and Found, Safe and Sound! And who did Jesus spend time with?

Luke 15:1-3

1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

Our Outreach and Our Ministry is to the lost!

Jesus received sinners, we’re to receive sinners, Jesus spoke to sinners, we’re to speak to sinners…

How many people have some sinners as friends? We all do and it’s (whisper) Ok to make friends and spend time with them.

Our Target Date for The Church Growth Campaign is March 29. So for the next few weeks, I’m gonna Preach, Teach and Encourage You to Love, Pray, Invite and Bring “The One!” Person in Your life that God has shown in Your Heart!

March 29, We’ll have “EO-BO Day, We’ll have a Nice Worship Service, a Nice Lunch, A Nice time for the Kids, We’ll all be on our best behavior and put on that BIG CHRISTIAN SMILE and that will lead them to an Invitation to come to Church for Palm Sunday (Free Palm Branches) and a Invite to Easter Sunday Worship Service Celebration and with everyone participating and everyone being nice, which is one of our Church’s Strong Points, many will keep coming, the Church, will grow, will make Disciples and we can be a Holy Spirt, Jesus Loving force for Long Island and NYC! Amen!

Why Do Most Church Outreach Programs Fail? Rapid Fire here:

3. Sadly, Many Christians are Apathetic.

What does Apathetic mean? Apathetic means, and this is a sad meaning, it means: Showing or feeling no interest, enthusiasm, or concern.

It’s the Ho um, who cares attitude… I asked a friend once to Church, they said No, and I did my Christian Duty…

Why Do Most Church Outreach Programs Fail? Rapid Fire here:

4. Many church members think that evangelism is the role of the Pastor and paid staff.

1 Corinthians 12:27-29

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

We can all Pray for each other’s “The One!” We can help and encourage each other for Your “One”. We’re all individuals, but we’re all Part of The Body of Christ!

Illustration:I’m thinking next week about putting up a Big Wall, Sign, Pray Idea, that we can all write “The One’s!” Name on the Wall and Pray for them over the next 4 weeks…

Why Do Most Church Outreach Programs Fail? Rapid Fire here:

5. Church membership today is more about getting their needs met rather than reaching the lost. I believe in taking care of us, but we need to reach out to the Lost!

Church shouldn’t be just about what’s in it for Me, but rather than how can we be a Blessing to them…

6. Church members are in a retreat mode as culture becomes more worldly and unbiblical. I know we’re in The End Times, it’s discouraging, but until God calls You home or He shows up WE MUST BE BUSY ABOUT The Lord’s Business!

Why Do Most Church Outreach Programs Fail? Rapid Fire here: Sadly

#7. Some Church members don’t really believe that Christ is the only way of salvation.

2 Timothy 3:5-7 Says:

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Tract Table Illustration…

Why Do Most Church Outreach Programs Fail? Rapid Fire here: 8, 9,10:

#8. Christians do not want to share the truth of the gospel for fear they will offend others. Political correctness is too commonplace even among Christians.

#9. Some Churches have lost their focus on making disciples who will thus be equipped and motivated to reach the lost.

#10. Many Christians work two jobs, work on Sunday, have Family and Business duties and think if they show up once or twice a month, they cool with God.

But Our Opening Passage says:

Proverbs 24:11-12

11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

Does the lost or does “Your One!” see You as just another Human Being in The Human Condition, being studied as and a participant in Anthropological Study or do they see You as a “Deliverer” of their Soul?

Now that was a Big Introduction and before we kidnap, abduct, hijack or coerce, “The One!” and Bring them to Church, we need to deal with two important things:

- Church Outreach Programs can succeed if: 1.We can deal with ourselves and 2. If The Church is Prepared.

Let’s Deal with Self first, because if we can’t Deal with Self, The Church won’t be prepared. We need to Deal with Self-first and when we Deal with Self, We Deal with God! Then as a Church we’ll be better prepared, Then We Deal with People! And over the next 6-8 weeks, I’ll be introducing The Plan so WABC can be prepared!

So before we get to “The One!” Let’s Deal with Self and God!

1. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:28

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Self-Examination is a good for thing for ourselves and it’s a Honest Report to God.

A personal examination assists in determining if one is receiving the symbolic bread and cup as Christ intended or in an unworthy manner. Self- examination before participation requires a checkup of our beliefs, actions and heart. As a member of God's family, we should approach Communion thankfully, joyfully and here’s a Pastor Hank word: examilly.

We need to ask ourselves these questions before We Invite “The One!”:

I. Am I CLEANSED of a guilty conscience?

II. Am I COMMITTED to my Faith in Jesus?

III. Do I have a CLOSENESS to my brothers and sisters in Christ?

IV. Has there been a CHANGE in my heart?

Hebrews 10:23

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

We all sin, we all slide, we all do wrong, but let hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering.

David did wrong, Moses did wrong. Peter did wrong, Paul did wrong, but their Faith was strong!

And when You have strong Faith we see God in Action here in Hebrews 10:23: (for he is faithful that promised ;)!!!

Do You have Faith in God’s promises?

God’s promises to us as believers are all throughout the Bible.

He promises to love us,

He promises to provide for us,

He promises us eternal life with Him,

He promises us that He will never leave us or forsake us.

And if we truly Believe in God’s promises, then:

I KNOW he loves me,

I KNOW He will provide for me,

I KNOW He has given me eternal life,

I KNOW that He will always be with me, HE will NEVER leave me or forsake me.

If we KNOW these things, then we know we can trust God.

And we can stand firm in our faith without wavering.

And when You have Faith in God, You’ll need to Trust in God!

And when You Trust God, things start to fall into place!

When you put you Trust in God, right away God kicks in His Protection.

Psalm 5:11

11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

We’re battling the world, the Devil, the flesh and when we fight them on our own, we often loose, but when we call upon The Lord and Trust Almighty God, we win, why? Because God’s a fighting for us!

Deuteronomy 20:4

4 For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Sometimes we gotta step back and let God take care of business.

Exodus 14:14

14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

There’s not a one of us that’s going through somethings in life and we need to be reminded to Turn it over, Trust Him and Praise and Rejoice in Him, because He gonna win! And when He wins, we win!

God always wins, God’s a winner, the Devil’s a loser!

How can we Trust God better?

It starts with the heart and it starts with putting Him first!

Our number priority in Faithfulness is being Faithful to our Father in Heaven!

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Our Trust starts with all our Hearts. You may be facing a dead end path right now—financial, emotional, relational—but God can see a path that you don't know about. If you will trust God and keep on moving in faith, even when you don't see a way, God will make a way. How?

By Trusting in Him!

We need to Trust God in our Homes!

Hebrews 2:13

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

The Bible gives us the blueprint for a home that is beautiful in design, solid in structure, and pleasant in atmosphere. Home can be a place of harmony and contentment, or one of tension and strife. Is your home happy, strong, and able to survive the storms of life? Is your home Trusting God?

Homes built according to His Word are places of love, trust, mutual interest, and unselfish service one to another. Such homes will bring happiness into our lives and preserve our communities and nations.

We need to Trust His Word.

2 Samuel 22:31

31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Proverbs 30:5

5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

One of my main thrusts of Preaching and Teaching is reading and Trusting your Bible, it is the word of God!

There’s a cartoon picture of man asking God: “How do I know” and then you see God’s big hand coming out of a cloud handing the man a Bible!

We need to Trust God when we’re afraid!

Psalm 112:7

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

We’re all afraid of many things… Psalm 56:4

4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

We ought to Trust God with our Souls.

Psalm 34:22

22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

We ought to Trust God in our Deaths.

Job 13:15

15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

When you put your Trust in Him, there’ll be Praising and Rejoicing!

Psalm 5:11

11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

And if we Trust God and His Promises then wouldn’t we want our Special “One” to have those as well!

And in the Next Few Weeks, We’ll look at:

Being The Real One to Your “The One!”

How to Pray for Your “The One!”

How To Bring Hope and Love to Your “The One!”

How to Invite Your “The One!” To Church and The Lord Jesus!

How to Bring Your “The One!” To Church and The Lord Jesus!

Let’s ask The Lord to use us and Grow His Church this year, Amen!

Let’s Pray… And Let’s Transition into our Communion Observance!
