Hebrews 3:13

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Intro: Does anyone what they were doing. or how they were feeling on January 1 of this year?

Me, I was feeling good! Me and My Son had started our Cross-Country Trip from California to Florida and we made a little trip out of it. We stopped at The OK Corral in Arizona, we had some great Mexican food in New Mexico, we went to The Alamo, we spent a night in downtown New Orleans eating Oysters on the half shell and I had Shrimp and Grits. Visited a nice Church in New Orleans, had Cajun Seafood in Louisiana and made it to Pensacola, mission accomplished!

Later in February, Me and Sook went back to Florida for our regular Vacation and we visited our Son in Pensacola and we visited my Dad.

The Church was doing good. We were growing, new people were coming, lives were being blessed, we were having some good Services and we were planning for Easter and Mother’s Day….

And then what happened? Coronavirus happened… It knocked The Country of its feet. All of a sudden, stores closed, factories closed, people lost their jobs, you couldn’t buy any Toilet Paper, and sadly people started getting sick, people starting dying. And the Government closed the Churches, except this one, hehehehehe…

Then we read in the News reports of The Killer Hornets have arrived from Asia…

Then I read in May the The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has put the entire state on lookout for four-foot-long black-and-white lizards that will “eat just about anything they want.” The Argentine tegu is an invasive species threatening Georgia wildlife.

No Easter Service, No Mother’s Day Service…

Then the Coronavirus numbers started to decline, the Country started opening up, Spring had arrived, the weather is getting nice.

On Memorial Day, we had The Family over for a BBQ we didn’t Social Distance, it felt normal…

And I’m thinking, 2020 couldn’t get any worse. in fact things are getting better, I’m feeling Encouraged! Happy Days are here again!

And then what happened? A White Police kills a Black Man. Multiple Videos captured it.

I was a Police Officer for 20 Years,

I'm a Christian Pastor now,

I'm a Freethinking Man,

The Police did wrong,

It's good to Protest, It's wrong to Loot & Riot,

I'm Praying for Our Country,

This is how I feel...

And America is burning and The Devil is happy…

I’d like to Preach to You all this morning on Encouragement… I’d like to Encourage You all this morning.

Encourage means: To inspire with courage, spirit, or hope. To spur on, to give help. The action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope. The King James Bible uses the words Comfort and Exhort instead of Encourage.

Proverbs 16:24

24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Pleasant words from one to another are Encouragement,

Encouragement gives us courage spirit, and hope. Encouragement from the Bible gives us the will to carry on. And I’d like to Cheer you on, to Encourage. To spur you on, to give help.

We’ve got seven months left in 2020. We got Thanksgiving & Christmas, and I believe God would have us to be working extra hard the next 7 months and as your Pastor, I have to Encourage us all because sometimes we get discouraged… We’re living in a very discouraging times…

God’s Book is an Encouraging Book, and we need to be reminded of that always.

Encouragement Encouragement gives hope. Encouragement helps us through times of discipline and testing. Encouragement nurtures patience and kindness. Encouragement makes it easier to sacrifice our own desires for the advancement of God’s kingdom. In short, encouragement makes it easier to live the Christian life.

The Bible tells us to encourage one another,

Hebrews 3:13 says:

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Encouragement should be a daily thing, we should live in a “Encouragement Mode!”

And I’d like to Cheer you on, to Encourage. To spur you on, to give help.

I’d like to remind us a few things this morning. Remember, #1:

1. As a Child of God, made in His image, your hard work is worth it!

1 Corinthians 15:58

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.

Again, let me remind you Church, your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

When it comes to The Lord’s work and the things in your life, Here’s a few tips:

1. Find Your Calling. Ask God to find your niche, that is, find the thing you do love to do with all your weaknesses and all your strengths. Put most of your energies and your love there for Jesus and His kingdom.

2. Joyfully Embrace Hard Tasks. Be willing to do many things in life cheerfully that at first you don’t want to do. They don’t come naturally to you. Be cheerful in doing the parts of your work that you do not at first prefer to do.

3. Persist, Persist, Persist. Anybody remember the Book: Robinson Crusoe? Robinson Crusoe, marooned on an island, all by himself, wants to escape, needs a boat. Mainland is 45 miles away. There might be cannibals over there. He is not sure he wants to go, but he needs a boat. He has got nothing else to do, so he is going to make a boat. He finds a tree. This tree is five feet, ten inches, across at the bottom. He has an axe. It takes him 22 days to chop this tree down, 14 more days to chop the branches off, a year and a half to finish the boat with an axe. I’d chop on a tree for a day, two days. I say: This tree is not coming down. I am done with this tree. Do you want to do something great? Don’t quit. Keep chopping. Persist, Persist, Persist. Keep Praying for that Spouse, keep Praying for your lost Children, keep Praying, keep witnessing, keep inviting people to Church, keep handing out Tracts, Church Bulletins, my Business Cards, keep working, keep chopping! Why?

1 Corinthians 15:58

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

I want to Encourage You all this morning! We also need to:

4. Kill Half-Heartedness. So many people limp through life doing what they do with a half heart, with half of their energy. If it is worth doing, it is worth doing with your whole soul.

Ecclesiastes 9:10

10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. We need to:

5. Work Urgently. Jesus did and so should we. Jesus said in:

John 9:4

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

The Lord’s Coming back, He could show up at any time, He can return right now. Have you finished what you wanted to do for Him?

“Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” - Benjamin Franklin

Paul said in Ephesians 5:16

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

We all have the same amount of time in a day. How do we choose to use our time? Some of us seem to manage our time well, while others seem to be stressed out and never have enough time. We are all juggling many balls in the air and sometimes when we add one more ball, everything comes crashing down.

Time is fleeting. Life goes by so quickly, we need to appreciate the gift of time.

Time is non-renewable, once-gone, forever lost. The sayings are legion:

You cannot cry over spilled milk.

Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow a promissory note; only today is ready cash.

What’s done is done. It is what it is…

So, what can be done with time? The Bible tells us that time is redeemable (Ephesians 5:16)! How do you redeem time?

Redeem means: to liberate or rescue from captivity or bondage, to regain possession of a thing alienated, To rescue; to recover; to deliver from.

To perform what has been promised; to make good by performance. He has redeemed his pledge or promise.

To redeem time, is to use more diligence in the improvement of it; to be diligent and active in duty and preparation.

We have 168 hours in a week. That’s 24 hours in a day, that’s 1440 minutes in a day which is also 86,400 seconds in a day.

Here’s some interesting facts on how we use our time:

a. You spend 25 years sleeping.

b. You watch TV for 9.1 years. With the average American spending 9-11 hours a day with Electronic Media!

Watching TV accounts for half of all leisure time, about 2.8 hours per day. With 2 of those years watching commercials.

c. You spend 3.66 years eating, about 67 minutes a day.

d. The average New Yorker spends 6 months of your life stuck in traffic, about 72 hours a year.

e. You spend 1.5 years in the bathroom. The average person goes 6 times a day.

f. You spend 14 days of your life kissing. Most people wish it were more.

g. You drink 12,000 cups of coffee in our life time. That could be 3-12 thousands hours of our life.

h. The average man will spend 1 year of his life staring at other women.

i. Women spend 8 years of their life shopping. That's over 1 hour every single day.

j. An office worker spends 5 years sitting at a desk.

k. The average person swears or curses 2,000,000 times in his life.

And we’re gonna visit these back in a few moments,

We’re to honestly analyze how we spend our time and what we do with our time.

We need to Analyze and Prioritize our Time better! We’re to Redeem our Time!

Now going back to that Time Consuming List:

a. You spend 25 years sleeping. Sleep is a good thing, but how about before you go to bed read a Proverb and when you wake up read a Psalm from The Bible!

Wake up and read Psalm 117

117 O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.

2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.

b. You watch TV for 9.1 years. With the average American spending 9-11 hours a day with Electronic Media!

Watching TV accounts for half of all leisure time, about 2.8 hours per day. With 2 of those years watching commercials.

We all can cut back on the Electronic stuff! We can all cut back 2,3,4 hours a day! We can use the Electronic stuff to our advantage! With that time you can:

Call a Brother or Sister and encourage them, send an email, mail ‘em a Card!

You Pray to The Lord about anything!

c. You spend 3.66 years eating, about 67 minutes a day. Leave Tract with your Tip at the Restaurant.

d. The average New Yorker spends 6 months of your life stuck in traffic, about 72 hours a year. I’ve said this before, just by The Bible on CD, while you’re stuck in traffic, you’ll hear the Bible being read to you!

Romans 10:17

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

e. You spend 1.5 years in the bathroom. The average person goes 6 times a day. Yeah, my Bathroom is called the reading room. I mean get an extra Bible and start a reading…

f. You spend 14 days of your life kissing. Most people wish it were more.

I think if we kissed our spouses and our children more, they’d feel more love!

g. You drink 12,000 cups of coffee in our life time. That could be 3-12 thousands hours of our life. Having a cup a Coffee by yourself or socially with a friend can lead into Spiritual conversations!

h. The average man will spend 1 year of his life staring at other women.

Matthew 5:28

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

It’s been said the first look isn’t Lust, but it’s that second look… Men every time you see a hot women, this is what you do: Just pray for the woman’s Salvation to The Lord and flee or look the other way!

i. Women spend 8 years of their life shopping. That's over 1 hour every single day. Alright Women we can definitely cut back on this and spend some time for The Lord!

j. An office worker spends 5 years sitting at a desk. How about leaving a Bible on your Desk. I guarentte that’ll start some conversations!

k. The average person swears or curses 2,000,000 times in his life.

Ephesians 4:29

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Instead of 2,000,000 curses, how about:

2,000,000: God Bless You!

2,000,000: I’m Praying for You!

How about 2,000,000 Psalm 109:26’s

26 Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

2,000,000: Praise The Lord!

2,000,000: Hallelujahs!

How ‘bout 2,000,000 Amens! When it comes to The Lord’s work:

6. Be Seasonally-Minded. Life comes to us in chapters that are very different from each other. If you are married, your Spouse should be the biggest chapter in your Life Book and if you children, then its Volume 2. Children are a chapter that needs a great deal of focus from the parents on the children. If God wills, there may be another chapter for you with different possibilities, different potentials, and different priorities. The Lord will be pleased if you focus on the chapter you are in and live according to the demands of that chapter with all your might.

7. Focus on The Goal.

Give 10% of your focus in life to avoiding obstacles to productivity and 90% of your focus to fastening on to great goals and pursuing them with all your might.

Philippians 3:14

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

8. Don’t Copy Me. You can’t do some of things I can do, and I can’t do some of the things you do. We all different…

1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 12, 14, 20

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

We all different, we all one, and we all bring something to The Body of Christ, His Church!

9. Encourage Each Other! Our Opening Text, Ding, Ding, Ding!

Hebrews 3:13

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 10:24-25 says:

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Going to Church isn’t just Going to Church, going to Church is a relationship with each other. We ought to be friends outside of Church, Encourage each other, hang out with each other, talk with each other, share with each other, pray for each other!

Romans 12:10

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

10. Labor Toward the Account You Will Give to God.

When the work is finished, you’ll get to meet The Lord.

One of favorite Bible verses and words I can’t wait to hear,

Matthew 25:21

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Then its:

-O when the saints go marching in,

O when the saints go marching in;

O Lord, I want to be among the number

When the saints go marching in!

I wanna Encourage You all this morning, Your hard work is worth it. #2

2. Going the extra mile can make all the difference.

Matthew 5:41

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

Jesus said to go the Extra Mile… The Apostle Paul said in:

Romans 12:1

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Reasonable Service is good, going the Extra Miler is better!

The Extra Mile is Beyond the Minimum. The difference between the Ordinary and the Extraordinary is the little extra.

At 211 degrees, water is hot.

At 212 degrees, it boils.

And with boiling water comes steam.

And with steam you can power a train.

Going the Extra Mile is why people succeed in their Career’s or Businesses,

The reason why Families succeed is because Mom and Dad and even the kids succeed,

I watched one of those animals shows yesterday about the Cheetah. The Dad don’t do much, he makes the babies, but the Momma Cheetah… she goes the Extra Mile!

Martin Luther King used to say: “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

I was reading a Book about becoming successful in the Business Field where the Author gave an example of going to the Supermarket. He asked the Stock Boy where could the canned vegetables were. If the Stock Boy says “Isle 12 on the left”, he did the minimum, if he says “Let me show you, follow me” he went the Extra Mile. Then at the Checkout he paid for his items and the Cashier handed him his change and she started boop, boop, checking out the next person. The Man said to the Cashier, “You forgot to say, thank you and have a nice day” the Cashier replied “It’s on your receipt”… That’s doing the minimum…

In life, we should go the Extra Mile!

3. Remember, It’s better to give than receive.

Acts 20:35

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. ~Winston Churchill

It’s good to be blessed. It’s better to be a blessing.

We give God our all and let’s be a blessing and give to the world.

Let’s give the world our love,

Let’s give the world our music,

Let’s give the world our movies and art and pictures,

Let’s give the world our smiling happy faces, because we love Jesus and we love them,

Let’s give the world our Bibles,

Let’s give the world our Charitable Donations such as clothing, food to help the needy,

Let’s give the world our Shinning Light, which is Christ Jesus,

Let’s give the world The Gospel of Lord and Saviour Jesus!

Let’s be Encouraged!

Just Some Encouraging Thoughts for You!

Let’s Pray…
